One or two of these symptoms is somewhat normal  but when you have several that stay around,  your body could be telling you that the Toxin Level is too high.  One of your body’s function is to detoxify itself but if we have too many toxins piled up,   doing a Detox would give your body a chance to “reboot”.

We thought we should try doing a Detox with Arbonne Products..It was a simple decision for us on several counts: their Detox Kits are a Detox-in-a-Box with all your supplies arriving together.  There was an online group where you could for  your meal plans and for support and I use Arbonne Products..  In the interested of transparency, since I am an Independent Consultant with Arbonne, it also made financial sense.

My husband wanted to lose weight and I seemly wanted more energy..so we began.The kits were ordered and the “Avoid List”was posted..We just stared at each other..totally convinced that we would starve during the next 28 Days..  Then we saw the “Sample Day on the Detox” and realized that we could do it!


So starvation was not to be our demise..After that realization, I grew brave and looked at the Menu for Week 1..there is also a Vegan Menu for each week so you have double the amount of choices.. The meals sounded really good but then came the realization that I needed to go grocery shopping..my cupboards were not stocked with healthy staples.

I stocked up on Sea Salt, Herbal Tea, Olive Oil, Hummus, Salsa, Wraps and Lemons while gazing, a bit sadly, at my normal goodies as I pushed the cart past them! I kept reminding myself that my muffin top had to go..so something had to change.


Next I had to wrap my mind around the fact that my diet was too acid that my PH was probably out of whack.acid-alkalene

So now we had our kits, our menus, healthy groceries and the first morning arrived..and NO COFFEE…was not a good start.. We grunted at each other but conversation was rather strained..  The recipes were actually good but I had to learn to flavour our meals a bit differently.  We actually have continued the healthier recipes for the most part..

By the end of the second day..I thought my head might explode..I had no idea how addicted that I was to sugar and caffeine..On day 5, the headache was gone and I knew that I would survive the remaining 23 Days!

Now that you have decided that doing a Detox could be a major  benefit for your general health;  what are the steps?

The premise is simply less toxins in and more toxins out–sounds easy -peasey.  If it was a simple process,  you wouldn’t spend the time to read this blog..you would just detoxify whenever you felt it necessary.

We are bombarded with toxins continuously.. through environmental pollutants and chemicals in  plastics, food, cosmetics, shampoos..so it takes a major effort, on your part, to avoid piling in extra toxins.     You can use personal care products, that are made without chemicals, and make an effort to eat “clean” foods..

Let’s talk about my idea of a detox..I have read several plans, and actually did the Arbonne Detox and came up with what worked well for the Hendershot’s..It is not too radical an approach but is very effective..

You want your body to be more alkaline than acid..so the previous article helped explain how to accomplish that.   So begins the No List to succeed in a Detox:

  1. No Gluten
  2. N0 White Potatoes
  3. No Dairy
  4. No Caffeine
  5. No Pop
  6. No Alcohol
  7. No White Sugar & Flour
  8. No Soy
  9. No Peanuts
  10. No Processed  Foods

And to answer your question:  You will not starve..you are just removing  common allergens and chemicals from your diet.  You will just have to plan your meals and try to remove temptation, at least for a few days until you get the hang of doing the detox.

Your body is not happy when you give up caffeine and/or sugar but will adjust in the first few days.  Once you begin to get rid of the toxins,  you will begin to think clearer, be better able to concentrate and perhaps even lose a bit of weight..

I included Protein Shakes  in the Detox that we did, to ensure that we got  our daily requirements.  Lots of nutrition and they were simply to make and take with you..

Do You Need to Detox?

Detoxification is a normal function of your body but today’s environment seems to be pushing your liver to the limit.  Think of the processed foods, plastics, chemicals and environmental pollution that you come in contact with each day.    You are exposed to toxins everywhere you go and then what you eat probably contains even more. The body lets you know when your toxin level is getting too high..here are some ways to tell..

We experience all of these symptoms at some time but when we need to but when we need to detox, we will experience several of these at the same time..  As you read this list, keep count of how many have applied to you in the last two monthes.

We have done the Arbonne 28 Day Detox  and it worked very well.but today I will offer some ways that you can help your body Detox itself.  They are all things that we know, but sometimes seeing them in print helps us remember..

  1. Drink lots of water
  2. Eat more fibre
  3. Cut down on coffee, alcohol and smoking
  4. Increase your Vitamin C
  5. Drink Herbal Tea
  6. Eat complex carbohydrates
  7. Eat more garlic
  8. Eat citrus fruits
  9. Eat more greens
  10. Sleep more
  11. Exercise more


Many are not disciplined enough to do this on their own, so would benefit from joining a structured group setting. This is why the Arbonne 28 Day Detox came into our lives:we needed the motivation and the support system to succeed.

Sunday on Campobello

Good Afternoon,

Went to Church this morning and then out to lunch with friends at Franks in Lubec, Maine.   Actually, bought a Christmas Present after a bit of window shopping:love getting that perfect gift (early).

At home, cut down some flowers to dry. Every year, I try to save a few of the blooms.   They will fade but hold their shape; a wonderful reminder of what will return!
